Routine Cleanings & Exams
Even the most diligent brushers and flossers can’t go without attending their biannual exams. During your visit, we’ll take comprehensive X-rays of your mouth, remove any plaque and tartar buildup, and perform a thorough cleaning. Once your cleaning is complete, we can apply any additional treatments, such as fluoride or dental sealants.
Fluoride is a natural mineral that promotes healthy enamel and helps to fight tooth decay. You’ve probably noticed it in your dental products and even your drinking water. Applying a larger dosage than your daily intake adds additional protection against cavities. Our fluoride treatments are of a higher concentration that should only be applied twice a year.
While dental sealants are appropriate for all ages, our younger patients are much more prone to cavities because they haven’t quite perfected their brushing techniques and are more likely to eat sweets. To combat this, we can apply a thin, plastic-like sealant to the molars that effectively seals the tooth from cavities and plaque.
Oral Cancer Screenings
Oral cancer is highly treatable if it is found in the beginning stages—yet another reason to attend your biannual exams. Our dentists will perform a thorough oral cancer screening to check for any abnormalities or causes for concern. If problem areas are detected, additional testing may be ordered.
Halitosis (Bad Breath) Treatments
Unfortunately for some, bad breath is a chronic issue that they deal with on a daily basis. Bad breath may be triggered by certain medications, poor dental hygiene, and much more. During your visit, we’ll determine the root cause of your halitosis and create a personalized treatment plan to correct it.
Nightguards for Bruxism
Not only is bruxism detrimental to your teeth and gums, but the constant pressure of grinding your teeth at night can lead to headaches and jaw pain. Our jaw exerts an enormous amount of pressure when it clenches, and the complex muscles around it can strain and become tired. To prevent this, we can fit you with a customized, comfortable nightguard that protects your teeth and takes the pressure off of your jaw muscles.
Athletic mouthguards help protect your teeth from injury during contact sports. Studies show that you are 60 times more likely to damage your teeth during athletic events when you don’t wear a mouthguard. Rather than generic boil-and-bite options, we’ll fit you for a completely custom piece for optimal protection. We’ll even help you pick out the right size, shape, and color to fit your personality!
