There are times when a gum infection or tooth injury means preventive care isn’t enough to keep your mouth healthy and your smile beautiful. Dr. McNeely performs a variety of restorative treatments to get your smile looking and functioning its best again in no time!
Crowns & Bridges
Crowns — often called caps — cover teeth and restore them to their appropriate shape and size after large fillings, fractures, or weakening forces like intense grinding. In all of these cases, crowns not only cover teeth, they also provide needed strength. Crowns can also be used to attach bridges, cover dental implants, restore seriously discolored or misshapen teeth, and can even serve as a preventive measure to protect a tooth that we see is in danger of breaking. In general, crowns are very strong restorations. In the hands of Dr. McNeely and the skilled team at McNeely Family Dentistry, the careful preparation and molding results in a great fit of your crown both to the tooth’s surface and within the mouth between surrounding teeth.
Bridges attach to crowns to replace one or more missing teeth. Bridges keep surrounding teeth from shifting, helping to prevent the need for more extensive — and more expensive — restorations in the future. A bridge is a more permanent and comfortable solution to a few missing teeth than dentures.

Dentures & Partial Dentures
At McNeely Family Dentistry, we offer both traditional amalgam (silver) and composite (tooth-colored) fillings.
Composite fillings are smaller and require less invasive placement procedures. They also blend in with the surrounding tooth, leaving you with a more natural-looking restoration. Composite fillings are also bonded directly to your tooth, so there is less preparation needed and they leave behind more of the healthy tooth structure.

Endodontics (Root Canal Therapy)
If you’re suffering from the intense pain of an infected tooth, root canal therapy could be what you need. Dr. McNeely performs root canal therapy in an effort to both save the natural tooth and avoid damage to surrounding bone and teeth.
Root canal therapy involves removing the inflamed or infected pulp tissue and cleaning out the inside of the affected gum tissue. The internal part of the tooth is then filled and sealed in preparation for the placement of a crown, which will protect the tooth from further damage.
Patients often worry about the pain associated with root canal therapy, but we have heard from many of our patients that the pain caused by the infection is much worse, and the root canal therapy provided them with much-needed relief.
We can help! Contact our office today if you’re experiencing pain due to an infected tooth.
The goal at McNeely Family Dentistry is to keep your natural teeth healthy and strong, and we do everything we can to avoid extracting teeth. However, some conditions, like trauma or extreme decay, require us to extract a tooth to protect the surrounding teeth and preserve your overall oral health.
If a tooth requires extraction, Dr. McNeely will explain your diagnosis and treatment plan to your thoroughly. We also offer Nitrous Oxide to keep you as comfortable as possible during your treatment.
